Welcome to Pre-K at Cherokee Elementary School! The Pre-K program is designed to facilitate the learning and interaction of children. In our program we work hard to maintain a creative learning atmosphere that is aligned with the Early Childhood Learning Standards and our Houghtin Mifflin curriculum. In our curriculum students are exposed to all seven elements of the standards which include literacy, math, writing, art, music and movement, science, and social studies. We do many hands on activities that facilitate the learning of our students. Each month we have a new theme that we incorporate into our classroom through creative activities in our learning centers.
This week in Pre-K we will be learning about rhyming words as we celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday! During this time, our students will be listening to various books written by Dr. Seuss as well as participate in several hands on activities that correspond to each book. Students will also learn how to read and create graphs, finish sentences that rhyme, learn the "at" family, practice sorting and describe their favorite book.
